“How do we change the world? One random act of kindness at a time.” – Morgan Freeman
This is the vision we share across Art to Healing and Yoga for Freedom:
To unite the global yoga community in service through compassionate action, and to give back to those less fortunate through the practice of yoga. We strive to bridge the gap between the Western yoga industry, creating positive and sustainable social change in the East whilst promoting cultural connectivity and innovation.
Our Impact
In 4 years, we raised over $65,000 in total to help the survivors of Nepal’s earthquake and the girls who were vulnerable and sold into slavery and exploitation as a result of losing their parents and families.
Our impact and efforts helped in providing education, food, and shelter, infrastructure, education, therapeutic services (including trauma-informed Yoga and Mindfulness, Expressive art therapies, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Somatic Experiencing) to these women, children and men. We also upskill the caregivers of survivors so that our work is sustainable in the long term.
This year, we seek to create a global network of yoga practitioners, teachers and studios to inspire change, and to GROW, SERVE and SHINE!

We care about the Global Scale of Sex Trafficking.

We live in the 21st century. We have the technology to print a 3D house, to fly to the moon and to pay our way using only phones. Yet despite these advances, we have failed to end the age old practice of human slavery.
Human slavery is the 2nd largest organized criminal underworld, on earth.
The UN has reported that some trafficking groups are now switching from drugs to humans, in a bid to avoid risk and make an even larger illegal profit (The UN Office on Drugs and Crime).
Sex slavery and the trauma endured by women and children is NOT OKAY with us.
We believe in compassionate action to create, and to be the change.
Be part of this change.
Art to Healing and Yoga for Freedom was founded by Atira Tan, a global yoga teacher, trauma specialist, expressive art therapist, author and social change activist. She has been practising yoga for 20 years and has been on the ground working with sex trafficked women and children since 2004.
Here is Atira’s personal story of inspired action, as told at TEDX:
